Meet John Burros

John Burros has led a diverse life as an activist, union member, investor, and actor. Over the last five years, he has become active in politics and community activism. As a member of Northside Democracy for America, John has knocked on thousands of doors for local candidates, and as an environmental activist, he has helped organize several forums to promote the use of solar and wind energy.

John has worked at the Palmer House and other well-known Chicago institutions for almost twenty years as a server for high-end banquets and is a member of the service union UNITE HERE Local 1. For the last nine years John has been a successful private investor. After surviving the bursting of the high technology bubble, he applied his financial skills once again and successfully rebuilt his investments.

Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, John pursued a career in acting, working as a stand-in and photo double in such Chicago-based productions as Backdraft, Flatliners, and Crime Story, earning entry into the Screen Actors Guild.

John has a keen interest in healthy living and has been a dedicated runner for many years, including in the Chicago Marathon. He can often be found running in the district.

John has been endorsed by the Chicago Sun-Times, Northside Democracy for America, and UNITE HERE Local 1.
